Mom,

Years ago, you honored your mother with these words. Today they return to us, and we see your life reflected in them.

“A good name is better than fine perfume.”
(ECCLESIASTES 7:1)

Mom, your life left a fragrance of kindness, faith, and service that will remain with us always.

“One generation shall declare Your works to another.”
(PSALM 145:4)

The faith you saw in your mother became the faith you lived before us every day.

“I am reminded of your sincere faith.”
(2 TIMOTHY 1:5)

Your faith was not only something you believed, but something you passed along to your children, grandchildren, students, and many others whose lives you touched.

“Strength and honor are her clothing.”
(PROVERBS 31:25)

You carried yourself with grace, dignity, and quiet confidence.

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and kindness is on her tongue.”
(PROVERBS 31:26)

Your words guided us, encouraged us, and often made us laugh.

“She teaches what is good.”
(TITUS 2:3)

Through teaching, music, and service, you devoted your life to helping others grow.

“Train up a child in the way he should go.”
(PROVERBS 22:6)

You poured your life into children. Your own children, your grandchildren, your students, and countless young people through church and community.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
(PSALM 150:6)

We can still hear your voice singing, lifting praise in the choir and filling life with music.

“The heart of her husband trusts in her.”
(PROVERBS 31:11)

Your love for Dad was steady and faithful.

“Children’s children are a crown.”
(PROVERBS 17:6)

Your grandchildren were among your greatest joys.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
(2 TIMOTHY 4:7)

Mom, you lived your life faithfully and well.

Mom, we are grateful for the life you lived and the example you set for us. You showed us the joy of learning, the beauty of music, the importance of serving others, and the deep love that holds a family together. Through your teaching, encouragement, and quiet strength, you shaped the lives of many people. We will carry your wisdom, your laughter, and the life you showed us forward.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed.”
(PROVERBS 31:28)

“One generation shall declare Your works to another.”
(PSALM 145:4)

With love and gratitude,
Earl and Carrol

It brought tears afresh from Miriam reading the verses at Mom’s funeral and now for Miriam.
